Introducing genYOU Doyenne.

An event dedicated to young women.

doyenne | noun | the feminine version of a badass leader or the most respected and highly ranked woman in a particular field.

Since 2015 generationYOU has been focussed on helping young people stand out from the crowd and find their career edge. Many things have changed during this time, but one element has remained consistent – the enthusiasm from young women to better navigate the world of work.

In the age of #metoo, gender diversity and a general push for women to take up more leadership positions, our younger generation is constantly reminded that their gender will, at times, be a challenge in their career.

genYOU Doyenne will tackle those challenges head on, sharing the stories, perspective and career advice of 8 outstanding women leaders.

What we will cover

1 // Advice from the trenches – a fireside chat with a local legend. There is no better learning than from those that have ‘been there done that’. This is a great opportunity to engage in a conversation with one of Brisbane’s best female leaders!

2 // Building your tribe – learn to network like a pro. Tribes are built through give and take. The challenge is to not simply meet strangers but to foster relationships.

3 // Putting yourself forward – developing leadership skills for impact. Irrespective of how you view leadership, it is a necessary skill for any workplace of the future.

4 // Unlocking your emotional intelligence. EQ is a necessary skill we need to build over time, particularly as it is one of the top 10 in-demand job skills.

5 // The future is yours – take control of your career! Hear from and ask some of the strongest, fearless (and most badass) female leaders we know. Irrespective of what your dream role is – your career is in your hands!

FAQs

Why generationYOU?

Over the past 4 years, generationYOU has created a thriving community of young people (17-25 year olds): students, graduates, young professionals, school leavers and dreamers, with one thing in common >> a strong desire to unleash their potential at work (and in life)!

Our role is to facilitate the sharing of knowledge from the experienced (think managers, mentors and entrepreneurs) with Australia’s youth.

How is genYOU Doyenne different to your other generationYOU events?

Where all of our previous generationYOU events have focussed on unleashing the potential of all young people … generationYOU Doyenne is an event that will deliver sessions focussed on increasing the employability and skill confidence of young women!!

Who is behind genYOU Doyenne?

generationYOU was co-founded by Nadine Zrinzo and Lisa Renneisen – two small business owners who simply got fed up of constantly hearing about the stereotypes that young people are struggling with (and decided to do something about it).

Nadine and Lisa saw at the generationYOU events the enthusiasm from young women to better navigate the world of work … so they decided to create a genYOU event that was tailored towards the needs of tomorrow’s female leaders, and so genYOU Doyenne was born!

I would like to partner with generationYOU. What are you looking for?

generationYOU is looking for organisational partners or collaborators to power up our goal of enabling all young Australians to unleash their potential.

We would love to hear from you if:

  • You are interested in nurturing tomorrow’s leaders
  • Have a good story or experiences to share which will enhance our learning experiences
  • Want to be known as a thought leader in areas such as the Future of Work, Leadership, Networking or Career Development
  • Keen to increase your employer/product/ brand with 17-25 year olds
  • Form part of a community or organisation that works with young people in any capacity e.g. colleagues, members, students

The generationYOU community is growing. To date, we have impacted more than 3000 Millennials through our online experiences, including almost 1600 people who have joined in on our live events.

However, there is much more to do and we are keen to work with the larger community to get there. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact our team on hello@generationyou.com.au

Can I still attend if I'm not female?

We will never turn away a young person who wants to amp up their career skills – so yes – absolutely everyone is welcome – however, the content at genYOU Doyenne will be aimed at young women in the workplace, so you will need to expect this.

Can I still attend even if I’m not a female student, recent graduate or in the intended age bracket?

Whilst genYOU Doyenne has specifically designed for young women (17-25), we’ve found that attendees who don’t necessarily fall into that category always gain something relevant and powerful out of the experience!

If you are not quite sure if genYOU Doyenne is the right event for you, or if you are thinking about sending a group of attendees to our events, please drop us a line on hello@generationYOU.com.au and we will be happy to help you out.

Each generationYOU session is its own piece – so missing one of two sessions will not stop you from benefitting fully from the sessions you are there for!!

I’m studying Zoology/Industrial Design/Seismology – is genYOU Doyenne still relevant for me?

Regardless of your degree or ideal job, there are certain skills you will need in the workplace.

Think about it – communication, problem solving, networking, leadership, emotional intelligence, personal branding – these are they key skills that, as a woman, you will need regardless of your role.

Furthermore, these are exactly the skills that more often than not will help you stand out from the crow and thrive in the workplace.
