genYOU Micro Stories 05

Our generationYOU micro stories are a collection of refreshing insights from millennials that are on their way to unleashing their potential.

For our next micro stories series, our intern Mikky headed out to pick the brains of 10 students on Brisbane’s QUT campus to hear their thoughts on questions we had regarding the journey from studying to a career. Part 5 of the micro stories showcases the answers of 2 of these inspired students that she spoke with.

How are you working on or towards your ‘WHY’?

“I’m just trying to do my best every day. I don’t really know what my WHY is yet but if I just keep going every day then maybe when I do figure it out I’ll be ready to aim for it.”
>> Christie Seddon

“I am working on my WHY by not taking university for granted. It’s something that needs effort to be rewarding.”

What is a challenge you’ve had to overcome on your study/career journey so far?

“A challenge I’ve had to overcome is figuring out what I want to do with my degree. I wanted to swap my degrees but realised it would not be in my best interests. So it’s been difficult putting 100% effort into a degree that doesn’t really seem to be what I want to do.”
>> Christie Seddon

“Nothing is too challenging as of yet, but time management with work, school and hobbies can sometimes be a struggle.”

What do you think is the best things millennials will bring to the workplace?

“I think the best thing millennials will bring to the workplace is motivation, and a new way of thinking and doing things. We’ve grown up in a different environment and are accustomed to different things and a lot of the time it seems like the older generations don’t want to let go of the old ways, but I think we will bring a new perspective and bright eyes to the workplace.”
>> Christie Seddon

“The best thing is that millennials will provide new and innovating ideas into the workplace, as well as their energy.”
>> Megan Su
